The Something Fishy Process

From first visit to final fill.

Every installation moves through five carefully coordinated stages. Tap a circle to learn what happens at each step.

Step 01 — Discovery

Site visit and assessment

We see the space before committing to a plan. Our team walks the site, evaluates structural and access considerations, and gathers everything needed to design a system that fits the environment perfectly.

Step 02 — Planning

Quote and scope of work

No surprises. You receive a transparent, line-item proposal covering materials, livestock, timeline, and on-site coordination — so every decision-maker is aligned before we begin.

Step 03 — Build

Installation day

Clean, precise, and coordinated with other trades. Our installers protect the surrounding space, sequence the work to your project schedule, and leave the site as polished as the aquarium itself.

Step 04 — Startup

Fill, cycle, and stock

We handle full startup — water chemistry, biological cycling, and livestock acclimation — so the system is healthy and stable from the first day you see it running.

Step 05 — Care

Post-install support

Our team is available for ongoing maintenance, service visits, and long-term care. The relationship doesn't end at installation — it's where it begins.

I've been enjoying my reef aquarium from Something Fishy for more than seven months. Each month has gotten better and better as new fish and corals have been introduced. At every stage, from planning/designing the aquarium to selecting the best combination of fish and corals the service team and techs were attentive to my questions and concerns. Even six months along, they worked with me to revamp the lighting system for the aquarium and put in a completely new configuration, all to make sure I was completely satisfied. The quality of the tank, and equipment is top notch; the health of the fish and corals is excellent, the knowledge and expertise of the service techs, and the quality of service has made my enjoyment of my aquarium exactly what I wanted. Service and customer satisfaction are real hallmarks of Something Fishy. Whether I've had a concern at 4:45 on Friday afternoon, or 5:30 in the morning, support is there. I'd been looking for an aquarium design and service firm for a very long time, and I have been most satisfied by Something Fishy.

The guys at Something Fishy did an amazing job moving my tank from one residence to another. They upgrading the plumbing and made several other little but important changes that will positively impact ease of maintenance. Billy and Hunter were very professional, efficient, and patient wth all my questions. I look forward to working with them on a 2nd tank and highly recommend their services.

My home aquarium has changed my space by turning a regular living room into the one spot everyone gravitates to. We love having a large fish tank because it adds movement, color, and a really calming vibe you just can’t get any other way. Kurt and the team at Something Fishy made the whole process easy, from planning to installation, and the system has been running smoothly ever since. Their crew clearly knows what they’re doing, and we’re excited to keep working with their service team as we add more fish and coral. Highly recommend.
